The Area Manager: Hermanus is responsible for the following:

  1. The proper functioning of four Ward Committees and oversight over an additional four Ward Committees in the Greater Hermanus Area;
  2. Operational Management that includes maintenance of the water treatment works and water distribution, waste water treatment works and network, solid waste, roads, parks and gardens and sports fields;
  3. Four libraries, namely Hermanus, Mount Pleasant, Zwelihle and Hawston;
  4. Thusong Community Centre;
  5. Auditorium and Banquet Hall;
  6. Maintenance of Head Office Building and gardens;
  7. Maintenance of all community buildings in the Hermanus Area;
  8. Co-ordination of triangular meetings for all festivals and events of significance;
  9. Oversight of Grotto and Hawston Blue Flag Beaches;
  10. Onrus Caravan Park and Hawston Camp site;
  11. Oversight of two Olympic size swimming pools;
  12. Oversight of four cemeteries, and
  13. Involvement with the design and implementation of ward projects for 8 wards.
  14. Allocation of informal trading sites at all facilities and beaches during peak season
  15. Various other delegated responsibilities

  7. Management of Hawston Camp site;
  8. Management of all Municipal swimming pools in the Greater Hermanus ;
