Revenue Management
The Department of Revenue is responsible for creating, and sustaining, a solvent and prosperous Overstrand Municipality by:
- Billing and collecting funds due, including water, electricity, rates, refuse, sewerage and any other approved tariffs
- Ensuring that accurate, transparent accounting processes and policies are in place and are compliant with relevant legislation
- Managing and controlling funds received
- Collecting all outstanding revenue in a dignified and compassionate manner, in terms of the Debt Collection and Indigent Policies
- Aligning business processes to meet Overstrand’s vision and mission objectives
The department has six main areas of work:
- Debt Collection – including disconnections, payment arrangements, legal processes, and indigents subsidies.
- Client Services – including receipting, application for services and all billing account queries
- Data Control – including billing database management, statistical information and reconciliations
- Metered Services – including meter readings, identifying reading variances and pre-paid electricity
- Valuations – including valuation of properties, supplement valuations, objections, appeals and all matters relating to property valuations.
- Rates and Services – including rates clearances, property registrations and all matters relating to non-metered services
