Overstrand Municipality Joint Operation Centre (JOC) or Incident Centre has been activated to monitor the heavy rainfall expected in certain parts of the Overstrand later today.
The main area of concern remains Stanford and surroundings.
The South African Weather Service (SAWS) says the current inclement weather in the Western Cape will start to clear from Wednesday, 10 April.
SAWS issued a Level 9 warning for disruptive rain resulting in widespread flood over the Overberg and the southern Cape Winelands on Monday, 8 April 2024. The bulk of the heavy rainfall is expected Monday morning and again from Monday afternoon into the evening.
Motorists should also be extra vigilant as roads are slippery and Disaster Management has called on residents of low-lying areas to be cautious.
Roads are monitored and we are appealing to everyone to have safety top of mind.
