Motorists urged to be cautious on the roads during December holiday – arrive alive

With the December holidays around the corner, roads in the Overstrand are expected to get busy.

Motorists can expect visible traffic check points and roving roadblocks on the N2, R43, R44, R316, R319 and R320. The purpose of these roadblocks will be to demonstrate to the public at large, that all law enforcement agencies and traffic services are united against recklessness, irresponsible behaviour and dangerous drivers.

Traffic officers will maintain a high visibility and manning joint roadblocks to ensure that only roadworthy vehicles and legally licensed drivers are using the roads.

Please adhere to the speed limit and do not drink and drive.

If you intend to consume alcohol, make alternative arrangements so that you will not have to get behind the wheel.

We appeal to motorists to exercise patience and to take precautionary measures where roadworks are in progress.  Motorists are urged not to overtake on the single lane areas between the stop-and-go barriers but rather to adhere to the speed limit.
