It is encouraging to note that the Indaba is fully subscribed, and the local tourism industry will no doubt enjoy the networking and information sharing opportunity. There are already more than 120 events recorded on the tourism calendar for the month.
The calendar is available at the tourism offices in Gansbaai, Stanford, Hermanus and Kleinmond.
Spring Day started with a meeting between Overstrand Executive Mayor Dr Annelie Rabie, Overstrand Portfolio Chair for Infrastructure, Investment and Tourism Cllr Clinton Lerm, the Hermanus Whale Crier Lutho Myaleni, CEO of the Southern Africa Tourism Services Association (SATSA) David Frost and Overstrand Tourism Manager Frieda Lloyd.
Mayor Rabie mentioned that the most should be made of Tourism and Heritage Month and that together with warmer temperatures the new season brings hope of an uptake in the tourism economy while also reflecting on our roots on the southern coast of Africa.
