Onrus Beach reopens after debris causes closure

Overstrand Municipality, together with civil interest groups, have been busy cleaning the beach at Onrus after the 25 September 2023 storms.

At present most of the work has been done and the Overstrand Municipal Manager, in consultation with the Executive Mayor, decided on Friday (8 December 2023), that the beach is safe and open for use by the general public.

A team of workers will still be busy with clean-ups until 27 December 2023.

It is a fact that the effects of the last storm have permanently changed the nature of the beach as it was known. We must allow nature now to take its course.
