DON’T MISS: Onrus Catchment-to-Coast Project Talk

Join the Overstrand Municipality’s Environmental Management and Conservation Section, along with guest speaker Dr Barry Clark, for a talk on the Onrus Catchment-to-Coast Restoration and Rehabilitation Project on 16 October 2024, from 17:00 to 19:00, at Thusong Hall in Hawston.

This talk will provide valuable insights into the project, which covers all aspects of the Onrus River system, from the mountains to the sea. It includes the upper catchment (De Bos Dam), the middle catchment (Onrus Peatland Wetland), and the lower catchment (Estuary). In addition the management interventions, included in the proposed MMP, will be discussed.

The Onrus River Palmiet Peatland gained attention after the severe fires that affected the Overstrand in January 2019, particularly the smoldering areas near the Camphill School.

For more information about the event, please contact the Overstrand Municipality’s Environmental Management and Conservation office by 14 October at 028 316 5604 or 5610. RSVP via email before 14 October to assistPMSP@overstrand.gov.za
