The South African Revenue Service (SARS) launched its first publication of tax terminology in 11 languages last year.
The SARS Language Service Unit has since been travelling across the country to hand these booklets to as many stakeholders as possible. This year, they are focusing on radio stations and government institutions that they may have missed last year.
It is hoped that the publication will assist taxpayers to understand the tax environment in their mother-tongue. The list of terminology covers financial terminology, such as tax, wills, and general financial business practices.
Through this initiative, SARS is striving to provide greater clarity and certainty to its taxpayers in all the official languages that would promote social justice and fundamental human rights.
The SARS Mutlilingual Terminology Publication Volume 1 is available on the Sars website: https://www.sars.gov.za/wp-content/uploads/Docs/Translations/Taxterminology/SARS-MultilingualTerminology-list-2022.pdf
Four books have been made available to Overstrand Municipality and can be viewed at the Hermanus Library and Hermanus Municipal Office.
