A cold front will set in over the Western Cape by Wednesday evening, 24 May 2023, resulting in cold, windy and rainy weather conditions on Thursday.
Moderate to fresh (17– 35km/h) West to North-Westerly interior winds can be expected ahead of the cold front on Thursday.
Rapid clearing behind the cold front on Friday, 26 May 2023, will lead to mainly fine and cold weather conditions, continuing into Saturday.
On Sunday, 28 May 2023, another cold front is expected to set in over the Western Cape with cloudy, cold, windy and rainy conditions.
On Tuesday, the wind will be moderate (17-24km/h) north-westerly but south-westerly along the south coast. By Wednesday the North-westerly wind will become fresh to strong (25-56km/h) in the south-west. Thursday the wind will be fresh (25-35km/h) south-westerly. On Friday and Saturday, 26 and 27 May 2023, the wind will be moderate (17-24km/h) north-westerly but fresh to strong (25-56km/h) in the south-west. By Sunday the wind will be fresh to strong (25-56km/h) south-westerly at first moderating in the afternoon.
Initial wave heights of 2.0 – 3.0m can be expected but will start to increase from Thursday morning to 4.5-5.5m subsiding from Friday morning to 3.5m. By Sunday afternoon the waves are expected to be increase to 4.0m to 5.0m between Cape Columbine and Cape Agulhas.
