We’re excited to share that Overstrand has achieved a clean audit for the 2023/24 financial year – that’s 12 years in a row!
A clean audit means Overstrand has kept a steady financial position, with every cent spent properly accounted for. It also means the Auditor-General found no significant issues in Overstrand’s financial and performance report, showing the municipality’s commitment to using taxpayer money wisely and delivering quality services to the community.
A number of internal control issues have been identified that needs to be addressed and this will be taken into account in the audit action plan.
Municipal Manager, Dr Dean O’Neill, thanked the Mayor and her Council for their steadfast leadership and oversight, the Directors for their strategic vision and strong management, and every employee, across all levels, for their hardworking efforts in ensuring the municipality runs smoothly and efficiently.
Overstrand Executive Mayor, Dr Annelie Rabie welcomed this achievement and said: “While a clean audit is a major achievement, it doesn’t mean everything is perfect. It does show that the budget is being used responsibly, in the best interest of the community and not on unnecessary or wasteful projects.
“I appreciate the role the public continues to play in assisting us to run a clean, sound, stable and sustainable municipality. Thank you also to our capable administration and councillors for once again demonstrating that Overstrand Municipality is one of the best-managed municipalities in the country,” Mayor Rabie said.
“We will continue working to improve our services towards an Overstrand for all”.
