Congratulations and well done to the high schools in the Overstrand for maintaining consistent effort for excellence with the following results:
Hermanus High achieved a pass rate of 96,1%, Gansbaai Academia received a 75,7% pass rate, Hawston Secondary achieved a pass rate of 76,2% and Qhayiya Secondary School in Zwelihle achieved a pass rate of 68%.
Curro Hermanus, Nortchliff House College and Generation Schools in Hermanus recorded a 100% pass rate!
The Western Cape 2023 matriculants achieved a pass rate of 81.5%, an increase of 0.1% from the previous year and the Overberg Education District matriculants obtained a pass rate of 88%.
Overstrand Executive Mayor, Dr Annelie Rabie, said she is proud of Overstrand matriculants who studied hard and gave it their best.
For the small number of unsuccessful learners that did not achieve their desired results, do not be discouraged. “Take on the opportunity of the Second Chance Matric Support Programme that can assist you to obtain a Grade 12 matric certificate through the Department of Basic Education”.
She said the matric class of 2023 can be very proud of their outstanding results.
