Municipal Tariff Guideline Increase

The Draft Budget 2022/23 has been tabled in Council this week communicating an indicative percentage increase of ESKOM bulk tariffs charged to municipalities applicable on municipal consumers from 1 July 2022 for the electricity basket at 10,33%.

However, with the publication of the MUNICIPAL TARIFF GUIDELINE INCREASE, BENCHMARKS AND PROPOSED TIMELINES FOR MUNICIPAL TARIFF APPROVAL PROCESS FOR THE 2022/23 FINANCIAL YEAR by the National Energy Regulator South Africa late on 30 March 2022, which proposes an average of 7,47% the municipality will review its proposed electricity tariffs in accordance with the published consultation papers once the percentage increase has been finalised.

It is trusted that this will be finalised before the budget approval date of 31 May 2022.
