On 24 April 2014, Mayor Nicolette Botha-Guthrie of the Overstrand Municipality visited Camphill and care centres in the Hermanus area.
Proceeds from the Mayoral Ball were used to buy much needed items for the residents of Camphill farm. During December 2013, the Mayor visited all five the houses on the farm, where she was met by the house managers and the needs were pointed out to her.
Although, due to financial constraints, she could not provide in all the needs, pots, bedding and toweling were bought and delivered to the residents. The gift parcels were received by Anne Clark, Elma Young and Jacky, as well as 91 year-old Irma Roehling who celebrated her birthday on Freedom Day, the 27th of April.
Even as months passed since the Ball, the Mayor would once again like to thank everyone who participated in this fundraising event.
She also paid visit to various care centres in Hermanus, where she delivered parcels on behalf of the Western Cape Provincial Government as part of their outreach programme to the elderly during March 2014.
At Huis Lettie Theron she was welcomed by Sister Alda van Tonder and Mrs Dorothy du Preez.
At SOFCA she was met by Mr Colin Woodhetch, Lydia Geldenhuys and Mrs Henriette Maartens. The Mayor also met and congratulated Mrs Roscoe, who turned 101 years on 8 April.
Siyazama in Zwelihle was next on the visitation list and the elderly of Zwelihle welcomed her with praises and excitement. Here she was met by Bongiwe Gcuza on behalf of Nellie Tebele who was absent at the time.
At the Lombardi Home Care Centre in Mt Pleasant she was met by Jenny Sauls.
The last port of call for the day was the Hawston Care Centre, where she was met by Ingrid Visagie and Martin Chibanda.
