The Overstrand is buzzing this weekend with a packed schedule of events. With so many festival-goers anticipated throughout the area, it’s sure to be a lively and busy time.
In her statement at the recent council meeting, Overstrand Executive Mayor, Dr Annelie Rabie mentioned that the roads will be busy. Motorists should be prepared for parking challenges and plan to leave earlier than expected for the Vissermans Fees in Gansbaai, the Chelsea Flowers exhibition in Stanford, the Cultural Milkwood Festival in Zwelihle and the Whale Festival in Hermanus.
Mayor Rabie also mentioned receiving complaints that phone calls are not answered although it is ringing.
The Overstrand emergency control rooms numbers for Fire & Rescue (028 312 2400) and Municipal Services (028 313 8111) operate as a 24-hour-a-day, seven-day-a-week, 365-day-a-year contact centre that logs all customer inquiries and complaints regarding municipal services and disaster-related emergencies.
“Please be patient if you are trying to call us,” the Mayor requested. “The phones will be answered”.
Service requests can also be submitted via the Municipal Collab Citizen App to help free up telephone lines. As last resort, residents can also contact their ward councillor for assistance in case of emergency, as they will be on standby till after the school holidays.
