Overstrand Municipality has commenced with the repairs to the two pedestrian traffic lights in Hermanus that are not working.

The pedestrian traffic light next to the Voëlklip OK Minimark was fixed over the weekend, and if all goes as planned, the signal next to Pick ‘n Pay should be in working order by 2 February 2024.

During the repair and testing period, the pedestrian traffic signals may be out of service for short periods. The Municipality requests that pedestrians and motorists use caution when crossing these intersections during this period.

Road users are reminded that where traffic signals flash red or are not functional, these should be treated as stop signs and preference should be given to pedestrians crossing roads at painted pedestrian crossings.
