Overstrand Municipality’s law enforcement officers served a staggering 1 329 summonses for traffic violations across the region during the first two weeks of April 2024.

In addition, 14 individuals were arrested, and one person was sentenced to imprisonment for three months for by-law offences.

The Municipality is committed to upholding by-laws and ensuring the safety and security of the community.

“We encourage all individuals to drive safely and responsibly and to obey traffic rules and by-laws.” “ By taking proactive steps to address any summonses received, we can all contribute to improving road safety and fostering a culture of compliance with regulations”, said Deputy Mayor Lindile Ntsabo and the Mayoral Committee Member (MMC) responsible for Protection Services.

Payments for summons can be made through various methods such as online payment or in-person at designated municipal cashiers.

Representation forms can be obtained from the respective traffic offices or municipal cashiers, alternatively an email may be sent to fines@overstrand.gov.za for representations to traffic violations or court@overstrand.gov.za for representations to non-traffic violations.

OVER THE COUNTER PAYMENTS OF TRAFFIC AND MUNICIPAL BY-LAW FINES:

Traffic and non-traffic violation fines may be paid at the cashiers at the Overstrand Traffic Department in Hermanus, Additional Court for Municipal Matters, and the municipal offices in Kleinmond, Stanford and Gansbaai.

Fine payments must be accompanied by the fine and relevant documentation.
