The Onrus estuary and beach has been temporarily closed following damage to the Onrus sewage mainline.

Warning signs have been erected on the beach and at Petersen Street upon the instruction of the Overberg District Municipality (ODM).  The ODM has collected water samples for analysis to determine the extent pollution in the river.  

The beach and estuary will be reopened, and signage removed once water sample results are found to be within ODM’s recreational water quality standards.

The public are requested to not enter the water until the area has been reopened.
