Overstrand firefighters rescued bird caught in roof

Overstrand firefighters rescued a bird stuck in somebody’s roof in De Wet Street, Onrus earlier today. Fire & Rescue received a call from Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve who manages the animal sanctuary to ask if they can help with a very loooong ladder to reach the Starling. The volunteer organisation thanked senior firefighter Tyrol Mackenzie and his crew Bevan Hess and Anga Ngongose for caring and said a lot of folks would have said it was just a bird and not worth the trouble, but they came to the rescue anyway. “The firefighters’ kindness is a testament to their dedication to help whomever and whatever may need them! Thank you for the effort.”
