Overstrand motorists urged to abide by the rules

Overstrand Municipality Traffic Services make every effort to enforce traffic regulations and promote responsible road usage in their drive to elevate road safety awareness.

On 5 and 6 April 2024, Overstrand Traffic held blitz roadblocks in Onrus and Vermont as part of their safety campaign. Drivers were fined for not stopping at stop streets and driving without a licence. Motorcycles were also checked for roadworthiness.

Similar roadblocks will be held throughout the region over the next few weeks to ensure motorists abide by the law in the interest of everyone’s safety.

Deputy Mayor and Mayoral Committee Member for Public Safety, Lindile Ntsabo, said the Traffic Department has both the capability to resolve and act against motor vehicles found to be in violation of any road traffic transgression. “Please drive responsibly and follow the rules of the road,” he said.
