Overstrand comprising of towns such as Hermanus, Gansbaai, Kleinmond and Betty`s Bay one doesn’t have to look too far to understand that these settlements are nested in some of the most picturesque settings in the world.
With abundant internationally recognised nature reserves such as the Kogelberg Biosphere, the Walker Bay Sanctuary and Fernkloof Nature Reserve, it is clear that this environment echoes sustainability.
The Overstrand has many bragging rights and in a recent article it was also highlighted that Hermanus has become the new South African Zoom town. Its accessibility to Cape Town and the Cape Town International Airport a mere one hour away, has laid the foundation for the future vison and growth of a region well known for its tourism and hospitality trade. The Marine Big Five economy has supported tourism for a long time and now it is time for further developments. One would be mistaken if you only thought of the Overstrand as a tourism destination, as in the past few years the landscape has changed with several new developments, one being a large industrial park for small industry.
The Overstrand Municipality has now identified the need to ensure a more diverse economy and has embarked on an investment drive for industries and developments wanting to establish themselves within our pristine environment.
The New Fast Track Overstrand initiative will effectively assist larger developments with appropriate attention to ensure that the investment creates jobs. For stability and the future growth, the region needs to create more sustainable jobs.
Part of the investment drive will be a two-day investment conference to be held on 23 and 24 June 2022 where several projects will be showcased and discussed. Some of the earmarked projects are a mixture of industries ranging from potential abalone farms, desalination plant, retirement village, university, restaurants, camp sites, small scale industrial erven, medical facility and more.
The Overstrand has long been a sought-after destination and with the new investment opportunities the Municipality would like to complement the amazing natural wonders and its champagne air.
According to the African Wealth Report Hermanus also has become one the most attractive destinations for millionaires. It should be no surprise that the region is open for business to enhance the living conditions for all its inhabitants.
The online registration for the Investment Conference that will take place from 23 and 24 June 2022 is now open.
