To date, 2 776 applications have been received from indigent households across the Overstrand of which 146 forms were incomplete with outstanding documentation and incorrect information.
The approved indigent applications total 2 192 and the 50 units of free electricity were given to the relevant households. The relevant rebates (free basic services) will also be backdated for June, July and August, where applicable.
Steady progress is being made with the backlog, which is down to 91 forms with 347 new applications received during the week.
In an attempt to widen the scope for support to needy households, Overstrand Municipal officials will be available on the following weekdays to help individuals to register for Indigent Subsidy:

The public can visit any of the municipal offices in Gansbaai, Stanford, Hermanus or Kleinmond during the week for support.

Various community halls will be open from 09:00 – 12:00 on Saturdays in order to support needy households with filling in of forms on the following dedicated contact sessions:
