Onrus Beach is one of the most popular beaches and surfing spots in Hermanus. As a Blue Flag beach during the December/January holiday season, it confirms that Onrus is a holiday destination of international standard.

Overstrand Municipality consistently improves its facilities and the upgrading of the aging ablution block at the Onrus Beach is well under way.

The upgrading will be completed in two phases over two years.

Phase 1 improvements, which are scheduled to be completed before the spring/summer season starts, include refurbishing the toilets, urinals, and hand washbasins. Thus, fully functional facilities will be available at the aforementioned time.

The second phase of the project will include the installation of disabled toilets, shower facilities, a nappy changing area and a concrete roof as well as the construction of a new lifeguard tower. This phase will only be considered depending on capital budget availability within the subsequent financial years.
