The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has warned that a significant cold front is expected to bring adverse weather conditions over the weekend into Monday (27-29 July 2024).
A Level 4 alert has been issued for disruptive rain, and possible snowfalls in the Western Cape mountains and southern Namakwa. Very cold conditions, with day-time temperatures expected to fall below 10°C in some areas, are anticipated. Windy conditions combined with the very cold and wet weather may pose risks to vulnerable livestock and pets. High wave heights and strong winds can also be expected over the coastal regions.
