Every year, 2 February is celebrated as World Wetlands Day to create awareness about wetlands.

This day marks the anniversary of the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands, which was adopted as an international treaty in 1971.

Wetlands are a fine example of how Earth has it all sorted for us – but it is up to us now to take care of them.

We urge residents of the Overstrand to spread awareness about the importance of our wetlands and natural resources. It is important to conserve our wetlands not just for ourselves but our future generations.
