Zwelihle community to get police mobile service point soon

The Executive Mayor of Overstrand Municipality, Dr Annelie Rabie, is excited about the commitment of the SAPS to re-open a police mobile service point in Zwelihle.

It is believed that the mobile facility will be operational within the next three months.

A number of logistical arrangements need to be finalised, for example, ablution facilities, electricity and water supply. As soon as this is done, the location of the facility will be communicated.

Zwelihle has been battling with an increase in criminal activity, especially abuse of women and children, since the previous satellite police station in Zwelihle was partially burnt down in 2018.

This good news emanated from a meeting held in Hermanus on 8 June 2022 between a delegation of the Overstrand Municipality led by Deputy Mayor Lindile Ntsabo and a delegation of the Western Cape Provincial Police Commissioner’s office, led by Brig Donovan Heilbron, Cluster Commander of the Overberg.

It is known that Overstrand wishes to significantly improve its response to the crime and criminality, which incidentally represents one of the 3 C’s of the Council.

Mayor Rabie wishes to thank the SAPS in anticipation and assures them of our continued commitment to making Overstrand a safer place to live, play and do business.

Brigadier Donovan Heilbron, Cluster Commander of the Overberg, and a delegation of the Western Cape Provincial Police Commissioner, attended a meeting with Overstrand Deputy Mayor and Mayco Member for Protection Services, Lindile Ntsabo, and Director of Protection Services, Neville Michaels and other officials to discuss the establishment of a police mobile service point in Zwelihle.
